Micosoft publisher


 Microsoft Publisher
In this post I would like to reflect something on the Microsoft publisher that I learned in third year in 2018.  In this reflection I will mention few things like the pre and post knowledge of processing broacher with the help of Microsoft publisher.
 
We were asked to prepared brochure on Health and Physical Education (HPE). I have seen and read many readymade brochures in schools, hospitals, lows, elections etc., having nil ideas of how does it prepared.  Design looks simple but it contains all the effective information in details. It was an assignment and to be graded with given marking criteria. 

Then I asked my senior friends about the preparation of brochure. They gives me little hint on making brochure in Microsoft publisher. Even they did not have adequate knowledge on it. Then I browsed the internet and looked for steps involving in preparing brochure. From that I started to explore how to go with brochure. 

I came to know that I can use Microsoft publisher to publish anything. In ms publisher, we get so many options like newsletters, calendar, business letter, brochure, postcards and many more. When we select any of the option, we get different readymade templates. We can even create our own design and templates using option given there.

Here the text box is working place. The text box should be fitting within the text boarder. We can insert pages by right clicking on the option ‘insert page’. It is very good way of publishing something. We can use our creativity and make it unique. Once we insert the text box, we can layer them and we can design. It was fun learning this and I realized that I can use it at anytime.  As a teacher we can always incorporate it with the classroom teaching and learning.

Reflection on nine elements of ICT

The advancement of the technology, in the speed rising point of instrumental gadgets, there are varieties of cautious that needs to take into consideration while in comes to usage of modern technology. It is high time to creates an awareness to the students that not only the secure that we have to concern about but also the languages and proper mannerism of using ICT in public. In total there are nine very significance elements where every digital native have to have a sense of conscious in the journey of digital citizenship’s world.
The nine elements of digital citizenship are:
  1. Digital etiquette
  2. Digital access
  3. Digital law
  4. Digital communication
  5. Digital literacy
  6. Digital commerce
  7. Digital right and responsibility
  8. Digital safety and security
  9. Digital health and wellness.

My previous knowledge about digital citizenship was fewer until my attainment of ICT class where a tutor familiarizing about elements of digital citizenship. I had a pre -knowledge like maintaining of safety and security (pass word). After the class of ICT on the topic of nine elements of digital citizenship, I could able to knew all do and don’t of using ICT in public.
I could learn many informative issues from the elements and amongst all the most appealing points that I like was digital right and responsibility. Which explained that every individual has right to use the all types of technologies and at the same time each one has responsible too. For example:  after the usage of computer lab, you are responsible of cleaning the lab properly.

The improvement of my ICT


In my last post, I have written about how were the standards of my ICT knowledge before and moment after my joining to this Paro College of Education. So today in this post I would like to express few lines on what I have learned during this 8th semester from the day I entered in ICT classroom and at the same time the things that I wish to learn further more.


In our first class, we are given a task to read an article called digital native and digital immigrant by Marc Prensky where digital native for students and immigrant for teacher. The article discus about how to catter the 21st century’s students teaching and learning. It is said that today’s teacher have to learn to communicate in the language and style of their students.


In this computer world, the digital immigrant have to change the teaching methodology like we have to use technology based instruction in our classroom it is because due to paradigm shift in educational philosophy like information gatherer vs information consumer, child centered learning, active leaning and teacher as facilitator.

We came to know that students are consumer of knowledge in their undergraduate years and when they become post students, they are creator of new knowledge. We can also reach to each and every students needs irrespective of learners ability with the help of auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. So further more I will keep on reflecting the topics that we have covered in my nest blog.
