Google Docs


Google Docs
In my last post, I have uploaded about five criteria to look for sources, today I will be posting about Google Docs. In one of the class, our tutor familiarize about the Google Docs that the application has got numerous benefits in terms of its features like one time in many people can edits a text together irrespective of individuals distance and barrier the one cannot reach to each other. 




According to Google, Google docs mean work in a single document with teammates or people outside your company. See edits as others type, communicate through built-in chat and ask questions through including comments. To make us further more familiarize about Google doc, we were assign a task to edits a lesson plan in a group of three member each.

The good features that Google docs has got was we can edit, comments, discuss and make any changes as we wish if the leader allows the member to do so. I personally felt that, such tools are very useful because being a teacher we have to be more informative in any source of knowledge, to become resourceful person, we can create Google docs among the teacher in different parts of the country and we can use Google docs as a median to share and reciprocate the information.

So, with the advancement of ICT growth, the system that used to be once has no more then and there within a periods of time. If I am to become a teacher in future, I am sure that I will integrate all sorts of ICT knowledge that I could acquire till date from the day I seat in this college as a trainee and at the same time I will be also keep on growing as fast as the technology grows in order to avail the informative service for the upcoming little generation in the classroom. In regards to the topic of my blogs, I will attach some of the pictures about Google docs that I have created in my last class.

In one of the class, our tutor takes us through some of the basics important of how to source and acknowledge the information that we have used to referred our academic work in order to avoid from plagiarism. So we learned that there are five criteria that are needed to be taken into consideration while we are using the information of others through the internet or web. The important criteria are:
ü  Accuracy
ü  Authority
ü  Objectivity
ü  Currency
ü  Coverage

We are informed with the criteria, the tutor assigns us a task to check whether criteria are fulfilled or not by referring one article about Massachusetts Information with given web link.  It is very important for the web to be evaluated before any type of information is gathering for any purposes. There are certain purposes that need to be considered while we are linked to various webs that required us to be visited, i.e, accuracy, authority, objectivity, currency, and coverage. Regarding the articles called MIT (Massachusetts Information Technology) that we are asked to analyses whether criteria are included or not.

One of the criteria that need to be fulfilled is accuracy. If the information has accuracy then the articles will have a purpose that has got statics, well and clear and understandable. So regarding the articles that we are asked to read has got purpose like how they could discover a type of glass that is more preferable for the filmmaker. So regarding the author, we can assure and identifiable that Jennifer Chu is a mechanical engineer, researcher, as well as writer.

The article that has goal/objective, appropriate audience and certain clue from the domain is considered as one of the criteria of objectivity. In this regards the audience can be those who are undergoing students of mechanical engineering and the clue used was edu. The currency of the site is up to date because she has updated series of articles and stories every year and she has referred various sources.

Camtasia

Reflection
In one of the class during ICT learning period, we were taken through video editing on camtasia. Camtasia is software created and published by TechSmith. Before I was aware of cam tamtasia’s facilities, I was wonder how do they edits videos and audio in any forms and style having attractive visual for the audience in looks.
In this globalize world I found camtasia video edition is important either being teacher of parents in our near future because with the help of camtasia facilities we can manipulate the teaching style in the form of audio visual so the it cater all the students in regards of different learning style irrespective of abilities. There are two types of camtasia software, camtasia 6 and 8, so our tutor familiarized about camtasia 6.
Practicing is the key feature in development of and skills in our life and the numbers of practice directly proportional to our growth both physically and mentally. During one the class our tutor let us to practice how to edit a videos and audios using camtasia application. I had few videos collected within the college campus like student’s movements, environments and few attractive scene and views on Paro valley. 

So, conclude my reflection, I would like to upload few pictures and video that I have practice in my last class. The learning of editing and practicing the camtasia movie edition was fun at the same time I felt that this module would have introduce in earlier semester so that we would have developed more skills in usage of camtasia.

Micosoft publisher

In this post I would like to reflect something on the Microsoft publisher that I learned in third year in 2018.  In this reflection I will mention few things like the pre and post knowledge of processing broacher with the help of Microsoft publisher.
 
We were asked to prepared brochure on Health and Physical Education (HPE). I have seen and read many readymade brochures in schools, hospitals, lows, elections etc., having nil ideas of how does it prepared.  Design looks simple but it contains all the effective information in details. It was an assignment and to be graded with given marking criteria. 

Then I asked my senior friends about the preparation of brochure. They gives me little hint on making brochure in Microsoft publisher. Even they did not have adequate knowledge on it. Then I browsed the internet and looked for steps involving in preparing brochure. From that I started to explore how to go with brochure. 

I came to know that I can use Microsoft publisher to publish anything. In ms publisher, we get so many options like newsletters, calendar, business letter, brochure, postcards and many more. When we select any of the option, we get different readymade templates. We can even create our own design and templates using option given there.

Here the text box is working place. The text box should be fitting within the text boarder. We can insert pages by right clicking on the option ‘insert page’. It is very good way of publishing something. We can use our creativity and make it unique. Once we insert the text box, we can layer them and we can design. It was fun learning this and I realized that I can use it at anytime.  As a teacher we can always incorporate it with the classroom teaching and learning.

Reflection on nine elements of ICT

The advancement of the technology, in the speed rising point of instrumental gadgets, there are varieties of cautious that needs to take into consideration while in comes to usage of modern technology. It is high time to creates an awareness to the students that not only the secure that we have to concern about but also the languages and proper mannerism of using ICT in public. In total there are nine very significance elements where every digital native have to have a sense of conscious in the journey of digital citizenship’s world.
The nine elements of digital citizenship are:
  1. Digital etiquette
  2. Digital access
  3. Digital law
  4. Digital communication
  5. Digital literacy
  6. Digital commerce
  7. Digital right and responsibility
  8. Digital safety and security
  9. Digital health and wellness.

My previous knowledge about digital citizenship was fewer until my attainment of ICT class where a tutor familiarizing about elements of digital citizenship. I had a pre -knowledge like maintaining of safety and security (pass word). After the class of ICT on the topic of nine elements of digital citizenship, I could able to knew all do and don’t of using ICT in public.
I could learn many informative issues from the elements and amongst all the most appealing points that I like was digital right and responsibility. Which explained that every individual has right to use the all types of technologies and at the same time each one has responsible too. For example:  after the usage of computer lab, you are responsible of cleaning the lab properly.

The improvement of my ICT


In my last post, I have written about how were the standards of my ICT knowledge before and moment after my joining to this Paro College of Education. So today in this post I would like to express few lines on what I have learned during this 8th semester from the day I entered in ICT classroom and at the same time the things that I wish to learn further more.


In our first class, we are given a task to read an article called digital native and digital immigrant by Marc Prensky where digital native for students and immigrant for teacher. The article discus about how to catter the 21st century’s students teaching and learning. It is said that today’s teacher have to learn to communicate in the language and style of their students.


In this computer world, the digital immigrant have to change the teaching methodology like we have to use technology based instruction in our classroom it is because due to paradigm shift in educational philosophy like information gatherer vs information consumer, child centered learning, active leaning and teacher as facilitator.

We came to know that students are consumer of knowledge in their undergraduate years and when they become post students, they are creator of new knowledge. We can also reach to each and every students needs irrespective of learners ability with the help of auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. So further more I will keep on reflecting the topics that we have covered in my nest blog.

Self Reflection of ICT



The computer was the only term that I could have a chance to hear when I was at grad five in 2007 being the remotest place where I was developed. The teachers used to talk about the advancement technology like where the whole world is control under the monitor of systematic computer and facilities that computer provided but I was out of wonders of how it looks and shapes does it has. The time passes by, I had an opportunity to touch, feel, and practice.

The day I step in to computer lab as a formal class in Paro College of Education (PCoE) was the day where I was frustrated, embarrass and sense of guiltiness encountered due to the very little knowledge that I had about computer. The friends seating nearby used to operate the system so flawlessly where I was looking for a button key to on the computer and peeping to left and right unknown partners for simple help but I sense people around are busy and silence of my needs.

In 2015 as a student teacher, I had an opportunity to take part in learning basic skills of computer model called FIT (functional information and technology) under the guidance of sir Thinly Wangchuk. With tremendous and effortless supports I could step into the bottom line of systematic functional world  like how to open the windows, Microsoft words, ppt, excel sheets, principles of ppt, ppt animation etc… which are basics knowledge skills of computer which requires in our day to day activities in this modern era.

I believe that my knowledge about IT is as nothing as drop of water in the universe of ocean and I determined that learning has no end until the death invites us to another new life. So my ultimate goal towards IT henceforth is that I would like to attain the struggle in learning about IT to grabs the required skills and knowledge as far the demands of 21st century’s modern technology. I hope that our model tutor sir Ugyen Wangchuk would never cease to lead the journey to make us reached us as we expected.
